Oh no! The secret is out.
According to Sunset Magazine, Tacoma is the 13th best place to live in the Northwest! The PNW's best kept secret is now national news. We've had the distinct pleasure of watching the city grow and develop over the past few years and we are thrilled that the City of Destiny's time has come!
"Tacoma is experiencing a resurgence of its downtown, along with six museums within walking distance of each other, train service into King Street Station, and charming bungalows selling for less than tract homes in the far Seattle burbs," says executive editor at Sunset magazine, Lauren Ladoceour. "While it takes a village to remake a village, much of this resurgence is being fueled in part by artists, artisans, and creative small-scale manufacturers."
With a smaller population of only 211,000, Tacoma has long been overshadowed by it's larger sister city, 34 miles to the north. Formerly a shipping powerhouse, Tacoma has seen an influx of creatives who are rethinking and repurposing old buildings & warehouses. To support the artistic movement, the city launched a Made in Tacoma initiative in 2017.
Compared to Seattle, home prices in Tacoma are startlingly affordable (and just as cute!) The median home price is only $270,000. Not to mention, you can see Mt Rainer from almost anywhere in the city! The city also boasts 46 miles of gorgeous coastline and outdoor activities to boot. With all the positive changes happening in Tacoma, we think that we're on the verge of something great. If you would like to hear more about it or see some available listings, give our team a call! We want to show you everything that we love about our city.
